Spring Lake softball team blasts past GR Catholic Central in sweep

The Spring Lake softball team swept its OK-Blue doubleheader with Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Tuesday, winning 17-0 and 17-1.

Leah Vaughan picked up the win in Game 1 for the Lakers while striking out nine. Vaughan also led the offense with four hits including a two- run home run. Molly Poole finished with four hits and six RBIs, while Lauren Hellman and Linsey Paggeot each had three hits.

In Game 2, Lauren Sommers struck out six batters to pick up the win on the mound. Jenna Core finished with three hits and five runs batted in, including a three-run home run. Hellman once again finished with three hits in the game.

With the sweep, Spring Lake now sits at 7-2 overall on the year and 5-0 in the O-K Blue.
