The Muskegon Catholic boys basketball team used clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter to stun host Muskegon Heights 54-51 on Friday in the Lakes 8 Conference opener for both teams.

Muskegon Heights led 12-9 after one quarter and 24-22 at halftime, but the Crusaders gained an edge by outscoring the Tigers 19-14 in the third quarter to take a 41-38 lead at the buzzer.

MCC pulled out the big victory by hitting 10 of 15 free throws in the final eight minutes.

Jordan Porter led the Crusaders with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jared Dugener added 12 points, Andre Watson II had eight points and four steals, and Peter Bartolameolli scored eight points.

Keishon Watson led Muskegon Heights with 21 points while Lamonte Townsend added nine.
