Ryan Laus took a centering pass from teammate Cam Schultz and scored with four minutes remaining, giving the Fruitport soccer team an exciting 2-1 victory over Reeths-Puffer on Tuesday in O-K Black Conference action.

The Rockets led 1-0 at halftime following a goal by Ashton Carpenter, who was assisted by Klay Grant. Fruitport’s Logan Manciu scored to tie the game with 15 minutes left, with an assist from Kaleb Krueger. That led to Laus’ winning goal in the final minutes.

Fruitport improved to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference. The Rockets fell to 1-6-1 and 0-3.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

NORTH MUSKEGON 7, HART 2 – Brody Hoffman led the way for the Norse with three goals and one assist.  Trevor Schultz had one goal and two assists, Brendan Gannon and Dylan Schultz both had a goal and an assist, while Hudson Richards added one goal. Nick Gertsweiler earned the win in goal, making nine saves.

Ruben Perez scored both goals for the Pirates while goalie Alex Hernandez stopped 21 shots. North Muskegon is now 7-2-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

WHITEHALL 1, SHELBY 1 – Brett Evans scored for Whitehall, with an assist from Joseph Gonzalez.  Shelby’s Chris Schugardt evened the score with a free kick with 12 minutes left in the game.

Shelby goalie Nick Felt stood tall by making 11 saves while Whitehall’s Sam Stevens had three. The Vikings are now 2-4-2 overall and 1-0-2 in the conference while Shelby is 3-5-1 and 1-1-1.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 4, KALAMAZOO HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 1 – Zach Zehr scored nine minutes into the game for Fruitport Calvary, and the contest was tied 1-1 at halftime.

But the Eagles broke things open in the second half with goals from Zehr, Luke Assaad (off a corner kick by Ben Zelenka), and Zelenka (assist from Ethan Pollock). Calvary, which had a 16-5 edge in shots, improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
