The Muskegon Lumberjacks were hoping for better results as they kicked off a road trip that will keep them away from home ice for seven straight games.

On Saturday night, the Jacks dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Youngstown Phantoms. The teams will complete the two-game series in Youngstown at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Chad McDonald scored the Jacks’  lone goal. It came in the third period and was assisted by Michael Brodzinski and Jeff Kubiak.

Goaltender Kevin Lindskoug was saddled with the loss in the Jacks’ net. He stopped 29-of-32 shots.
