Registrations are currently being taken for an ATV/Quad Safety Certification class on Saturday, May 18.

The class, sponsored by the Northwest Ottawa Recreation Authority, will be 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Grand Haven School, 17001 Ferris St. in Grand Haven.

The fee is $5 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

This safety class is designed to properly train and certify individuals to comply with the State of Michigan laws.  A parent must accompany anyone under 12 years old. Bring a sack lunch and a No. 2 pencil.  There will not be any hands-on training at this class.

BOATER SAFETY CLASS

The Northwest Ottawa Recreation Authority also is accepting registrations for three Boater Safety Certification classes.

Choose 1 Saturday date or the 2 weeknight opportunities:  Saturday, April 20,  May 4 or May 11 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

All classes will be at the Grand Haven High School at 17001 Ferris St., Grand Haven in the Large Group Instruction Room. The fee is only $5 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

This safety class is designed to properly train & certify individuals to comply with the State of Michigan laws.

Anyone born after 1978 must be certified to operate these vehicles.   Those at least 16 years of age and born on or after July 1, 1996, may operate a boat legally only if they have been issued a boating safety certificate and have it on board the boat or personal watercraft.   Bring a sack lunch to the Saturday class and a #2 pencil.
