Reeths-Puffer slips by Union 7-6 in eight-inning baseball game

Five lead changes highlighted Thursday’s baseball game between Reeths-Puffer and Grand Rapids Union. In the end, the Rockets escaped with a 7-6 victory in eight innings.

Run-scoring singles by Caleb Sheffer scored Jacob Boes to give R-P the lead for good. Jake Balkema had two extra-base hits for the Rockets. Balkema also saw pitched three innings and allowed two runs.

Parker Richardson tripled and Balkema doubled in a three-run first inning for the Rockets.

Zach Santos and Brett Boes later added run-scoring singles.
