For the second time this week, a player associated with the Muskegon Lumberjacks organization has made his college choice.

Dylan Malmquist, an affiliate player, has committed to the University of Notre Dame out of the Hockey East Association following his junior hockey career.

Malmquist, the Edina, Minn. native, was the Lumberjacks’ first-round pick (10th overall) in the 2012 USHL Futures Draft and will be entering his junior year at Edina High School.  During his first two seasons with the Hornets, Malmquist has accumulated 90 points (46 goals and 44 assists) in 57 games played.

This past summer, Malmquist played for Team USA in the 2013 Ivan Klinka Memorial Tournament held from Aug. 5-10 in Břeclav, Czech Republic and Piešt’any, Slovakia earning the silver medal.  During the USA Select 17 National Development Camp that took place before the tournament from June 27-July 3 in Williamsville, New York, Malmquist was the top scorer with 11 points and shared the goal-scoring lead with six.
