Whitehall captured its fourth-straight Division 2 district baseball championship on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Fremont.

The Vikings head to Cadillac next Saturday, June 7, to face Gladwin in the regional semifinals.

“Our kids played great baseball today,” said Whitehall coach Warren Zweigle. “Our pitchers threw strikes, our defense was outstanding and we had timely hitting.”

Leading Whitehall in the championship game was Noah Robart with two doubles and two RBI.

Jake Gillhespy pitched all seven innings for Whitehall in the win. He struck out five and gave up four hits and two walks.

Fremont’s Donovon Lock belted a solo home run for the Packer’s lone run.

Whitheall topped Ludington 10-0 to advance to the finals while Fremont beat Orchard View 3-0 earlier in the day.
