The Muskegon Heights football team pulled out a 48-36 victory over Manistee Friday in a non-league shootout.

The Tigers improved to 3-4 on the season.

Tigers’ quarterback Ontario Porchia had a monster game through the air, finishing with 408 yards and five touchdown passes. Porchia also had a long run of 55 yards.

Pherrius Flowers led Muskegon Heights’ receiving corps with 208 yards on the night. Javonte Kendrick had a pair of touchdown catches and gained 80 yards receiving. James Doxey had a 35-yard touchdown reception.

“We actually started pretty slow offensively,” Muskegon Heights head coach Jimmy Purnell said. “Our defense kept us in with a couple forced turnovers.”

Quadrekus Brooks intercepted a Manistee pass and scampered 35 yards for a touchdown in one of the game’s biggest plays. Dezjuan McDanial recovered a fumble for the Tigers.
