The Spring Lake boys basketball team remained in contention for a Lakes 8 conference title with a tight 45-42 victory over Ludington Monday.

Spring Lake improved to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the Lakes 8. The Lakers and Muskegon Catholic each have only one league loss heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

The game was tied 19-19 at halftime, then the Lakers gained the edge by outscoring the Orioles 16-8 in the third quarter.

The Orioles had a five-point advantage in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap.

Zach Montgomery led the Lakers with 17 points. Kyle Zietlow added nine points while Mark Williamson and Keegan George contributed eight points each.

Andrew Jones and Noah Laman each scored 11 points for Ludington, which fell to 6-11 overall and 4-4 in the league.
