Red Sox 7, Tigers 2 – The Boston Red Sox broke open a one-run game with four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Jefry Marte hit a home run for Detroit, while Victor Martinez knocked in a run with a single.
Detroit starting pitcher Justin Verlander pitched the loss, allowing two unearned runs on four hits in six innings.
The Tigers will open an eight-game road trip, starting on 
Monday night against the Kansas City Royals.
