LSJ Logo incertThe Grand Haven volleyball team fell short of winning its own invitational tournament on Tuesday night, losing to Mattawan in the finals.

The Buccaneers won all three of their pool matches defeating Haslett, Milford and East Grand Rapids 2-0, then beat Lapeer in the semifinals.

Morgan Ross had 29 kills and nine blocks for Grand Haven, while Emily Lachmann recorded 28 kills and 21 digs.

Katie Cole had 93 assists and led the Bucs with 24 digs.

The Buccaneers are now 8-2 on the season.

Mona Shores went 1-2 in pool play, beating West Ottawa and losing to Mattawan and Lapeer.

The Sailors also lost both matches in their bracket, to Milford and West Ottawa.

Mona Shores is now 7-5 on its season.

Madison Dunn and Grace Hellman each had 21 kills, Sasha Poland had 40 digs and Katie Hermanson had 63 assists for the Sailors.
