The Whitecaps’ record is now 10 games over .500 at 29-19, and they now have a seven-game winning streak for the first time since July 11-18, 2014. The team also finished a spectacular whitecaps logo not for feature artmonth of May with a record of 18-9 – the second-best May winning percentage in team history (.667).

Great Lakes fell to 22-28.

Will Allen got the Whitecaps on the board in the first inning with an RBI-double to right-center field to put West Michigan up 1-0. The score would stay the same until the seventh, when Great Lakes took a 2-1 lead on a run-scoring double by Brendon Davis and a Garrett Hope sacrifice fly.

Allen grinded out an 11-pitch at-bat resulting with a two-run single to right in the seventh, giving the ‘Caps a 3-2 lead. Sacrifice flies from Rashad Brown and David Gonzalez gave West Michigan a pair of insurance runs to end the scoring in the ballgame.

Jordan Smith pitched one of his best games as a Whitecap, but received a no-decision despite tpssing six innings and allowing only two runs. Jon Maciel (4-2) tossed two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

Allen led the ‘Caps with two hits including a double and three RBIs in the contest.
