Blue Jays 7, Tigers 2 – The Toronto Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep, defeating the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.

LSJ Logo incertThe Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before Detroit tied the game 2-2 with two runs of its own in the first.

Toronto scored five unanswered runs with three in the third and two in the fifth inning.

Josh Donaldson paced the Blue Jays with a triple, home run and three RBIs while Justin Smoak chipped in with a double, homer and two runs batted in.

Nick Castellanos’ two-run home run accounted for both Detroit runs, while starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann took the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.Eye on the D

The Tigers are now 30-29 on the season, good for a second place tie in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.

Detroit will start a three-game weekend series on the road against the New York Yankees starting Friday night.
