Aubrey Goorman registered a double-double, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, to lead the Western Michigan Christian girls basketball team to a 44-39 victory over Holland Black River on Friday in non-conference action.

WMC trailed 8-6 after the first quarter, but took a 21-15 lead into halftime and held on in the second half.

Anna Sytsema tallied seven points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors while Jenna Houskamp added eight points.

FRUITPORT 33, ORCHARD VIEW 15 – A strong Fruitport defense held Orchard View to one point in the first quarter.The Trojans jumped out to a 9-1 lead after the first quarter, led 15-6 at halftime and had a 22-10 advantage through three quarters. Kennah VerMerris led the Trojans with nine points while Ellie Fisher added seven points, 15 rebounds and six blocks.

CALEDONIA 48, SPRING LAKE 31 – The Lakers dropped their second straight game to start the season. Caledonia jumped out to a 15-10 advantage after the first quarter and took a 27-14 lead into halftime.
Linsey Paggeot led Spring Lake with 11 points while Jenna Core had a team-high six rebounds.

GREENVILLE 54, REETHS-PUFFER 38 – The Rockets turned the ball over 24 times, and were hurt by Greenville’s Adele Kemp, who scored 33 points. Reeths-Puffer only trailed 21-19 at halftime, but Kemp scored 22 of her points in the second half as the Yellowjackets pulled away. Lauren Ross led the Rockets with 12 points while Bridget McHugh added seven.
