The Spring Lake volleyball squad successfully defended their NorthPointe Christian Invitational title on Tuesday.

The Lakers defeated host North Point Christian in two-sets after beating Cedar Springs in a two-set semifinal match.

Spring Lake opened the tournament with two-set wins over Orchard View and Cedar Springs before splitting a two-set match with NorthPointe Christian in the last match of pool play.

The Lakers are off to a great start with a 9-1-1 record early in the season.

Jenna Core paced Spring Lake with 31 kills and 52 digs while Abbi Perkins added 27 kills, seven aces and 13 blocks. Madeline Zenas chipped in with 114 assists.

Orchard View posted a 1-3 record during the tournament with its lone victory against Cedar Springs in a two-set match.

The Cardinals, who are 1-8 on the season, were paced by Lily Johnson with 15 kills and six aces while Larissa Stewart added 13 digs.
