The Kent City football team’s strong second quarter led to a 56-22 win over Hesperia on Friday in a C.S.A.A Silver Division game.

The Eagles led 14-6 after the first, then shut down the Panthers in the second frame by a 28-0 margin to take a 42-6 lead at halftime.

Kent City added two more touchdowns during the third quarter to increase its advantage to 56-14 heading into the fourth.

The Panthers scored the lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Gio Weeks ran 11 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles while quarterback John Meek threw for 103 yards on 3-for-5 passing and two touchdowns.

The Eagles rushed for 319 yards as a team.

Kent City is now 6-0 on the season and will host Holton next Friday, while the Panthers fell to 1-5 on the year and will travel to play Morley-Stanwood.
