Girls Weekend hoops roundup: Kent City and Muskegon fall just short

The Kent City girls basketball team traveled to Okemos on Saturday and dropped a hard fought 40-39 battle to Detroit Martin Luther King.

The Eagles fell behind 17-9 after one quarter but battled back to take a lead in the third quarter before eventually falling.

Zara Weber led the Eagles with 19 points in the game while Kenzie Bowers added nine points.

East Lansing 66, Muskegon 63 –The Big Reds fell just short on Saturday in a road game at East Lansing.

Alyza Winston led Muskegon with 26 points and six assists while Nia Miskkel added 12 points and nine rebounds. Bri Alexander had 10 points, three steals and four assists for Muskegon.

The Big Reds drop to 0-2 on the season.
