The Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team advanced to the Division 4 regional finals with a 45-22 win over St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran on Monday at Mendon.

The Eagles jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, led 26-11 at halftime and had a 37-11 advantage through three quarter after shutting down their opponent during the third frame.

“Our girls came ready to play tonight and brought tremendous focus and energy,” said Fruitport Calvary coach Brad Richards.  “They are keeping the game simple, playing for God and their teammates, not thinking about themselves, and working to have a good report card on every phase of the game.  We are blessed to be able to keep playing, this is a special group of players.”

Brionna Johnson paced the Eagles with 17 points and 16 rebounds while Kelsey Richards added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles, who are 18-5 overall on the season, will face host Mendon on Wednesday in the Division 4 regional finals.
