Hart girls basketball team upsets unbeaten Houghton Lake to advance to regional finals

The Hart girls basketball team knocked out undefeated Houghton Lake 48-42 on Monday in the Division 3 regional semifinals.

Jayd Hovey paced the Pirates with 25 points while Nicole Rockwell added 12.

Hart trailed 7-2 after the opening quarter and 22-19 at halftime. The Pirates then went on a 19-12 third quarter tear to take a 38-34 advantage heading into the final stanza.

The Pirates closed out the game with a 10-8 fourth quarter run to seal the win.

Hart will face Lake City on Wednesday for a regional championship at McBain High School.
