The West Michigan Whitecaps had their two-game win streak snapped on Wednesday, falling 8-2 at Great Lakes.

The lone runs for the Whitecaps came off a Luke Sherley two-run home run in the second inning.

Great Lakes responded with one run in the fourth inning, two in the fifth inning, two in the seventh inning and lastly three in the eighth inning.

Ulrich Boajrski led the Whitecaps offense with two hits on the day while starting pitcher Kacey Murphy took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits while also walking four.

The Whitecaps fall to 8-10 on the season and fall to three and a half games behind Lake County for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division standings.

The Whitecaps will return home on Thursday when they take on Lake County at 6:35 p.m.
