The Muskegon Clippers are headed into the all-star break on a good note after beating the Grand Lake Mariners 12-5 to take the three-game series on Sunday.

The Clippers are now 19-17 on the season with just six games remaining. They will return to action on Thursday to face the Michigan Monarchs in a crucial three-game series on the road.

Muskegon jumped out to a 9-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first inning, three in both the second and third frame and one in the sixth stanza.

The Mariners finally cracked the scoreboard with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut their deficit to a 9-4 margin.

The Clippers added two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to take a 12-4 lead before Grand Lake closed out the scoring with a run in the bottom of the ninth.

Jimmy Allen paced Muskegon offensively with four hits and four RBIs while Micah Allen had two hits and two RBIs. Noah Hecht chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

Jarrod Melle pitched the win for the Clippers, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings.
