The Hesperia volleyball team posted a perfect 5-0 record and won the championship at the Mustang Invitational at Montabella High School on Saturday.’

The Panthers went 3-0 in pool play, beat Central Montcalm 25-21, 25-22 in the semifinals, and Saranac 25-19, 25-20 in the finals.The Panthers were led offensively by Emily Bayle with 25 kills.

Rachel Romero, Brooke Billings, and Isabelle Rumsey added 16, 15 and 14 kills, respectively.  Kyra Sayer dished up 37 assists and Aria Thomas added 24.  Sayer also served six aces.

Hesperia is 12-4 on the season and 2-0 in the CSAA.

SPRING LAKE GOES 2-3 – The Spring Lake volleyball team went 1-2 in pool play before defeating Grand Rapids Covenant Christian 25-13, 22-25, 15-9 before falling to Forest Hills Central in the silver bracket semifinals.

Abbi Perkins paced the Lakers with 29 kills while Alicia Mumby added 25 kills and 28 digs.

Madalyn Lisman had 12 blocks on the day and Kendra Kieft had 37 digs.

MONTAGUE GOES 2-2 – The Montague volleyball team defeated Cadillac and Kenowa Hills on Saturday but lost to Grand Haven and East Grand Rapids.

Reilly Murphy led the Wildcats with 24 kills and 26 digs while Ally Hall added 22 kills.

Raegan Murphy had 72 assists and 25 digs for Montague while Maddie Wynn had 37 digs.

FRUITPORT FALLS IN BRACKET PLAY – Fruitport defeated East Grand Rapids and Leland in pool play before falling to Livonia Churchill in pool play and Cadillac in bracket play.

Brooke Sieplinga had 16 kills while Erika Burgess had 14 kills. Kennadi Dykstra recorded 58 digs for Fruitport and Madalyn Fett added 26 digs.

HART HAS UP AND DOWN DAY – The Hart volleyball team went 1-2-1 on Saturday in the Kingsley tournament, losing to Houghton Lake and Pine River but defeating Manistee and tying Grand Traverse Academy.

Finley Kistler had 12 aces, 20 assists and seven digs for the Pirates while Nicole Rockwell added 32 digs and Autumn Sharrow had 12 kills, five blocks and five aces.
