Braiden McDonald’s game-high 29 points led the Packers to a hard-fought 73-63 victory over Ludington on Monday night.

Ludington had a strong first quarter, leading 24-22, but Fremont rebounded in the second quarter to take a 42-35 lead into halftime.

McDonald scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half. Chris Kennedy also was a significant contributor for the Packers with 27 points. Also chipping in were Chris Kennedy (six points, eight rebounds), Carter Moon (seven points, six rebounds, and five assists), and Joshua Zerfas (four points, four steals, six assists).

Ludington were led by Payton LaCombe with 22 points, and Eric McKinley with 15 points.

Fremont improve to 3-0 overall, while Ludington drop to 1-2.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 58, WHITE CLOUD 27 – Jeffrey Carrier had 25 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, and three blocks to lead the Spartans to their first win of the season.

Also playing a big part for the Spartans was Will Chye, who had nine points and four steals.

Mason County Central move to 1-2 with the win, and travel to play Hart next on Thursday.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 49, TRI-UNITY 37 – The Warriors overcame early foul trouble and a difficult first half to continue their undefeated start to the season.

Owen Varnado led the Warriors with 16 points and eight rebounds while Kellen Mitchell added 13 points.

WMC improve to 3-0 to start the season, and travel to play Ludington on Friday.
