Kellen Mitchell’s 21 points gave the Western Michigan Christian Warriors an edge in their non-conference win over Mona Shores Tuesday night. The Warriors defeated the visiting Sailors, 59-48.

WMC battled Mona Shores evenly throughout the game, but maintained a 14-10 lead in the first and carried a 30-23 advantage into the second half.

The Sailors cut WMC’s lead in the third and trialed 40-36 going into the final quarter.

The Warriors put down Mona Shores in the fourth quarter, going on a 19-8 run to close out the win.

Owen Varnado also led WMC with 18 points while Nick Moser recorded seven points.

Jaylen Hopson paced Mona Shores with 18 points and four rebounds while Ahmon Dean added 14 points and seven boards.

WMC improves to 9-4 overall while the Sailors are now 2-11.

HOLLAND CALVARY 72, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 50 – The Eagles fell behind early in their conference game Tuesday night, trailing 15-8 in the first and going into halftime down 34-20. After the third quarter, the Eagles held a 52-30 deficit.

Jacob Schuitema led the Eagles with 18 points. Ben Zelenka followed with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists while Jacob May added 11 points.

Calvary falls to 1-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play. They travel to Holland Black River on Friday for another conference matchup.

MASON COUNTY EASTERN 72, HESPERIA 22 – The Panthers struggled early on offense, trailing 22-5 in the first and going into halftime with a 46-12 deficit. Hesperia was outscored 11-7 in the third frame.

Logan Balkema paced the Panthers with seven points.

Hesperia is now 0-13 overall and 0-5 in conference play. They play host to Morley Stanwood on Wednesday.
