A team effort helped the Grand Haven girls basketball team snap a three game losing streak on Tuesday. Three players scored in double figures to lead Grand Haven to a 53-40 victory over O-K Red foe Grandville.

Grand Haven held a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and a 12-point advantage, 26-14, at the half. The Bucs outscored Grandville 27-26 in the second half. 

Zoe Spoelman and Molly Long both turned in double-doubles for Grand Haven. Spoelman scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots , while Long scored 10 and had 12 boards.

Jolee Houle scored 13 points and dished out five assists. Caydee Constant tossed in eight points for the Bucs. 

Grand Haven is now 9-8 overall and 3-7 in conference.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

MONA SHORES 56, GRAND RAPIDS UNION 43 — The Sailors picked up an O-K Black conference victory over Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday. A back and forth first quarter led to an 11-11 tie after the first. The Sailors took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back, outscoring Union 18-9 and taking a 29-18 lead into half. The Sailors pushed the lead to 46-27 after the third quarter.

Brooke LeRoux led the Sailors with 14 points and Olivia Sobczak scored 13.

The Sailors improve to 8-9 overall and 5-4 in conference. 

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

GRAND RAPIDS WEST CATHOLIC 71, SPRING LAKE 37 — The Lakers kept it close into the second quarter, but couldn’t keep up with the conference leading Falcons Tuesday night. 

Spring Lake trailed just 17-14 mid-way through the second quarter, but a series of missed layups and turnovers allowed West Catholic to pull away with a 20-0 run and put the game out of reach. 

The Lakers were led by Phoebe Saunders with 11 points. Abbey Kimball led West Catholic with a game-high 18 points.

Spring Lake is now 5-12 overall and 4-6 in conference.
