The Whitehall girls basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to pick up a conference win over Mason County Central Thursday night. The Vikings trailed by a point heading to the fourth quarter, but came away with a 47-41 win.
Karleigh Jeffries led Whitehall with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Greta Hostika scored 10 points for the Vikings, all in the second half.
Mason County Central was led by Adria Quigley with 14 points, while Wren Nelson added eight points and 10 boards.
Whitehall led 12-10 after the first quarter, but Hart grabbed a 9-6 edge in the second to lead 19-18 at halftime. The teams played an even third quarter, leaving the score 29-28 in favor of the Spartans after three. Whitehall gained a 19-12 advantage in the fourth.
The Vikings are 2-2 overall and in West Michigan Conference play, while MCC falls to 1-5 and 1-4 in WMC play.
O-K GREEN
MONA SHORES 34, ZEELAND EAST 30 — The Sailors edged the Chix in a tight battle to remain undefeated on the season. Mona Shores outscored Zeeland East by one point in each quarter, leading 6-5 after one, 15-13 at the half and 24-21 after three quarters.
Olivia Sobczak led the Sailor offense with 11 points, while Riley Rosenthal added 10 and Bri Wade scored six.
The Sailors are 4-0 on the season and in O-K Green conference play.
REETHS-PUFFER 53, ZEELAND WEST 49 — The Rockets opened their season with a tight conference win over Zeeland West in O-K Green action.
Ariel Walker led R-P with 15 points and a pair of assists. Bella Borgeson added nine points and three assists, while Arrionna Williams scored nine and grabbed three rebounds.
WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE
MONTAGUE 44, HART 37 — Montague used a strong fourth quarter to close out a conference win over Hart and stay undefeated.
The Wildcats led 14-5 after one quarter, but the Pirates stormed back to tie the game at 21-21 heading to the half. Montague held a slight 29-27 edge after three before outscoring Hart 15-10 in the final period.
Andie Zamojcin led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Wildcats. Braquelle Osborne added four points and four assists.
Aspen Boutell led Hart with 10 points and Morgan Marvin added seven.
Montague is now 3-0 on the season and in the WMC, while Hart falls to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
OAKRIDGE 53, NORTH MUSKEGON 41 — The Eagles picked up a conference win behind a pair of double-figure scorers Thursday night.
Leah Lowry and Kyla Stewart both netted 12 points to lead Oakridge, which shot 22-for-27 at the foul line.
Syann Fairfield led the North Muskegon offense with a game-high 20 points.
Oakridge improves to 2-3 overall and in league play. North Muskegon is now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the West Michigan Conference.
SHELBY 37, RAVENNA 27 — The Tigers overcame a slow start to top the Bulldogs in West Michigan Conference action Thursday.
Ravenna led 7-4 after the first quarter, but Shelby grabbed an 11-2 edge in the second to lead 15-9 at halftime. Shelby led 23-19 heading to the fourth.
Kendall Zoulek led the Tiger effort with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Lexi Schultz added nine points.
Shelby improves to 2-3 overall, while Ravenna drops to 3-2. Both teams are 2-2 in WMC action.
WEST MICHIGAN D LEAGUE
MASON COUNTY EASTERN 48, PENTWATER 19 — The short-handed Falcons struggled in a conference game Thursday night. Pentwater trailed 17-6 after one, 23-8 at the half and 37-13 at the end of the third.
Mikaylyn Kenny had four points and seven steals for Pentwater while Justine Murphy had three points and 14 rebounds.
Pentwater is now 2-2 on the season and in conference play.
