A huge performance from Emily Bayle powered Hesperia to a conference win over Holton Friday night, 47-37.

The senior nearly matched the Red Devils in scoring, pouring in 36 points. She also grabbed 20 rebounds and collected five steals.

Bayle was near-perfect at the line, connecting on 12 of 13 foul shots.

Holton led 9-5 in the first quarter, but Hesperia snuck ahead 19-18 by halftime and led 36-27 after three.

The Panthers move to 5-5 for the regular season and 2-5 in the CSAA Silver Division. Holton falls to 6-8 on the year and 2-4 in the conference. 

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 87, ORCHARD VIEW 11 — Taylor Folkema dominated the court against the Cardinals, scoring a personal and school record of 40 points on the night, along with eight steals and six rebounds. Maddie Wiersema and Kyla Wiersema added 11 points and six rebounds apiece.

The Warriors led 26-4 in the first quarter, 62-4 at halftime, and 78-6 going into the fourth.

Western Michigan Christian is now 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the Lakes 8 conference.

LUDINGTON 58, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 20 — The Crusaders fell to the tough Ludington team in Lakes 8 action. The Orioles led 18-7 in the first quarter, 29-7 at halftime, and 44-14 after the third.

Cara Burkall led the Muskegon Catholic Central with five points and eight rebounds on the night.

The Crusaders fall to 4-7 for the regular season and 3-4 in the Lakes 8 conference. Ludington improves to 10-3 on the season and 7-0 in the conference.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

MONTAGUE 56, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 17 — The Montague girls remain undefeated with a victory over conference rival Mason County Central. The Wildcats led the Spartans 14-4 after the first quarter, 28-11 going into halftime, and 43-11 at the end of the third.

Andie Zamojcin put up 13 points and five rebounds to lead the Montague girls, followed by Emma Flynn with 11 points and four steals. 

Wren Nelson led the Spartans with 10 points on the night, and Gabby Jensen scored seven.

Montague moves to 12-0 overall and 11-0 in the West Michigan Conference, while Mason County Central falls to 4-10 for the season and 3-8 in conference play.

HART 64, RAVENNA 25 — Jayd Hovey netted a double-double to lead the Pirates to a West Michigan Conference win, totaling 21 points and12 steals along with seven rebounds. Morgan Marvin scored nine more for Hart and snagged seven boards.

The Pirates led 21-3 after the first quarter, 38-21 at halftime, and 53-23 at the end of the third.

The Hart girls are now 12-3 in the regular season and 10-2 in conference play.

CSAA

KENT CITY 56, WHITE CLOUD 23 — The Eagles played some tough defense to hold off the Indians in a CSAA Silver Division game. Kent City led 17-4 after the first quarter, 27-9 at halftime, and 42-20 at the end of the third.

Jenna Harrison and Maddie Geers paced the Eagles with 17 points each, while Kenzie Bowers scored 13.

Kent City is now 13-0 for the regular season and 7-0 in conference play.

FREMONT 59, REED CITY 35 — Cara Miller led the Packers to victory with a double-double, putting up 13 points and 12 assists, as well as seven steals and six rebounds. Haley Zerlaut followed with 10 more points and Abby Vandenberg added nine.

Reed City took the lead 11-8 in the first quarter, but Fremont took over and led 28-18 by halftime and 40-29 after three quarters.

Fremont moves to 4-10 overall for the season and 4-8 in CSAA Gold Division play.
