Four Fruitport Calvary Christian players scored in double figures, and the Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter to snag a 66-61 victory over Wellspring Prep on Tuesday in Alliance League action.

Braden Swanson and Baden Cohea each scored 16 points while Ethan Cammenga tossed in 14 for Fruitport Calvary. Bradley Richards put up a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Fruitport Calvary lost its first-half lead and trailed 47-44 after three quarters, but outscored the Wolves 22-14 in the fourth to get the win.

The victory puts Fruitport Calvary Christian at 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the Alliance League.

LAKES 8

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 69, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 38 – Owen Varnado had a big night for WMC with a game-high 25 points.

A strong first half propelled the Warriors to the win. Western Michigan Christian led 22-9 after the first quarter, 41-13 at halftime, and 65-25 at the end of the third. 

Micah Terhaar and Sam Ligget each scored eight points for WMC, which moves to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the Lakes 8 conference. The Crusaders fell to 3-7 in the regular season and 0-5 in Lakes 8 play.

ORCHARD VIEW 73, MANISTEE 34 – Ke’ontae Barnes put up a double-double to lead the undefeated Cardinals to victory against Manistee.

Barnes had 29 points and ad 11 steals on the night. Darius Williams and Jay Jay Tunstull both followed with 11 points for OV.

Orchard View led 20-8 after the first quarter, 48-18 at halftime and 66-25 at the end of the third.

The Cardinals are now 14-0 for the regular season and 7-0 in Lakes 8 conference play.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

WHITEHALL 62, SHELBY 48 – After trailing the Tigers through the first half, the Vikings had a huge third quarter to take the win.

Shelby led 15-8 after the first quarter and 30-24 at halftime. Then Whitehall put up 24 points in the third quarter to take the lead, 48-36, going into the fourth.

The Vikings were led by Dayton Cole with 19 points and Andrew Durbin with 17, with both players grabbing six rebounds. Joseph Hayes scored a double-double for the Tigers, totaling 11 points,10 rebounds and seven assists.

Whitehall moves to 10-3 in the regular season and 9-0 in the West Michigan Conference. The Shelby boys are now 3-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

O-K RED

GRAND HAVEN 63, JENISON 49 – Grand Haven took the game by coming out hot and building an early lead over Jenison. The Buccaneers led 22-8 after the first quarter, 38-22 at halftime and 50-30 at the end of the third.

Harrison Sorrelle led the Buccaneers with 17 points, followed by Nicolas Stump, Owen Worthington, and Bashir Neely with 12 each. Chase Rumler put up 14 points for Jenison.

The Buccaneers are now 7-3 overall and in O-K Red conference play.

O-K BLUE

GRAND RAPIDS WEST CATHOLIC 66, SPRING LAKE 61 – The Lakers made a strong comeback, outscoring West Catholic 21-13 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome their O-K Blue rivals.

Grand Rapids West Catholic led 17-12 after one quarter, 32-22 at halftime and 53-40 going into the fourth.

Spring Lake’s Kaden George had 26 points for a career-high game, along with eight rebounds. Sam Sheridan followed with another 11 points for Spring Lake 

The Lakers fell to 2-8 in both the regular season and in the O-K Blue conference.

ALLENDALE 60, FRUITPORT 24 – The Trojans took a hard loss to conference rival Allendale to fall to 1-11 in the regular season and 0-10 in the O-K Blue conference.

Colin Jolman, Paschal Jolman and Bode Anspach scored six points apiece on the night for Fruitport.

CSAA

BIG RAPIDS 39, FREMONT 35 –  The teams came into the showdown with identical 9-1 conference records, and the Packers kept it close, but Big Rapids prevailed in the end.

Fremont trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter and clawed back to within two points, but missed several key shots down the stretch.

The Packers were hurt by poor outside shooting, making only 4 of 20 shots from three-point range.

Braiden McDonald put up 13 points to lead Fremont while Joshua Zerfas had 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

The Packers are now 10-4 overall and 9-2 in the CSAA Gold Division.

NON-CONFERENCE

MONTAGUE 67, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 44 – The Wildcats led off with a strong first quarter and took the win over the Tigers. Montague led 20-9 after the first quarter, 39-26 at halftime, and 51-35 going into the fourth.

Drew Collins scored 19 points and snagged nine rebounds for the Wildcats and Isaiah Archison put up 13 points and six rebounds.

Montague moves to 8-3 overall on the season.
