The Ravenna baseball team’s bats were hot on Saturday when the Bulldogs defeated Holton 14-2 in the championship game of the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tier 3 Tournament.
Ravenna pitcher Travis May earned the win in the championship game, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out four hitters in four innings.
Adam Nutt paced the Bulldogs’ offense by driving in three runs. Austin Brown picked up a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs, while May and Brandon McFarren drove in a pair of runs each.
Kevin Erickson drove in both of the Red Devils’ runs.
The Bulldogs beat Western Michigan Christian 13-6 in the semifinal round.
Nutt recorded the win on the mound, pitching 4⅓ innings, allowing five hits while striking out six batters. May and Thomas McCullough recorded three hits each. Brown, Dom Jones and Nick McMahon all recorded two hits.
Sam Liggett led the WMC offense with three hits and three RBIs.
Kevin Erickson’s walk-off single led Holton to a 17-16 win over Orchard View in the other semifinal game.
Brock Brown earned the win on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on two hits, while striking out three hitters in two innings.
Aidan Poling led the Red Devils’ offense with three hits and three RBIs. Austin Hawkins, Bo Larabee and Carter Brant recorded two hits apiece.
Owen Swanson pitched 4 ⅔ innings, striking out four hitters for Orchard View. Swanson, Noah Smith, and Jacob Peterman all collected multiple hits for the Cardinals.
