The North Muskegon softball team swept a pair of tight games over Whitehall on Tuesday in West Michigan Conference play.
Maddy Balon earned the win from the mound, allowing two hits and two runs and striking out seven.
The Norse scored three runs in the fifth to break up a 1-1 tie, then added three more in the seventh. Emma Houseman and Megan Houseman both hit home runs and had three hits while Emily Gale had two hits.
North Muskegon completed the sweep with a 5-3 win. Balon earned the win for the Norse in the second game as well, allowing seven hits and three runs and striking out six.
Gale and Rylee Cooper led North Muskegon with multiple hits in the second game, when the team totaled 10.
Whitehall’s Kyleigh Martin pitched both games and struck out a total of 16,
The Norse are now 20-12 overall and 9-5 in the West Michigan Conference.
WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE
RAVENNA 11-11, HART 0-1 – Emma Gillard pitched the win in both games in the conference doubleheader, doubleheader, allowing only one hit and striking out eight in the opener, and allowing three hits and one run with eight K’s in the nightcap.
Liberty Willick, Laney Mabrito, Maddie Kilbourne and Ellie Solem each landed a single hit against the Pirates in the first game.
Gillard led the Bulldogs offensively in the second game with three hits, followed by Willick and Solem with two each.
Ravenna is now 16-3 overall and 13-1 in the West Michigan Conference.
OAKRIDGE 8-22, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 2-1 – Brooklyn Galdeen pitched the win for Oakridge in the first game, with one hit and eight strikeouts in four innings. Jasmine Pastor pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits and two runs.
Kealinn Jozsa led the Eagles with two hits and two RBIs, followed by Ahria Doornbos and Madison Clark with one hit and two RBIs each.
Jozsa earned the win in the second game, allowing one hit and one run while striking out six batters over three innings.
Galdeen, Jasmine Pastor and Delaney Ruel each homered for the Eagles. Galdeen totaled three hits and four RBIs for the game.
Oakridge moves to 26-1 overall and 9-1 in the West Michigan Conference.
O-K GREEN
WYOMING 2-16, REETHS-PUFFER 1-0 – The Rockets had a rough go with Wyoming, dropping both ends of the conference doubleheader.
Caitlynn Duffey struck out 15 batters in the tight Game 1 loss, which went eight innings. Duffey also hit a home run while Alyssa Sahlhoff, Paige Moss and Megan Adams each had hits.
Duffey, Adams, and Moss each collected hits for Reeths-Puffer in Game 2.
WEST MICHIGAN D
MESICK 7, PENTWATER 3 – Pentwater pitcher Mikaylyn Kenney struck out 10 batters in the loss.
The Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs to take the lead for good.
Addison Bringedahl led Pentwater at the plate with two hits.
