Western Michigan Christian boys soccer earned their third-straight shutout victory, with a 3-0 win over Whitehall on Saturday.

The Warriors shutout Muskegon Catholic and Orchard View in their previous two matches.

Dominating on shots toward the net, the Warriors had 18 to the Vikings three.

Ashton Leffring put the Warriors on the board when he blasted in a goal on a shot from outside the 18. Gavin Riksen assisted on the play.

Matthew Minasian gave WMC a 2-0 lead on a head ball shot. Joel McKay assisted with a headder pass to Minasian that was set up on a Charlie Buursma free kick.

Tekalegn Vlasma recorded the teams’ third and final tally nine minutes into the second half.

“We’ve been working hard to make good, quick decisions and connect our passes in space,” said WMC Coach Ben Buursma. “This has been a good week for the guys and they’re definitely starting to find some cohesion and more confidence.”

Jared Olsen and Daniel Minasian combined in net for the shutout.

West Michigan Christian’s Lakes 8 conference play continues on Thursday when they host the Manistee Chippewas.
