Muskegon extended its win streak to six as the Big Reds defeated Reeths Puffer, 47-21.

The win didn’t come easy on a slippery wet field as Reeths-Puffer was within striking distance before the Big Reds scored three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to go up comfortably, 47-14.

Destin Piggee gave the Big Reds the lead over the host in the first quarter with a 66-yard touchdown run.

A Damari Foster interception stopped the Rockets’ next drive.

The Rockets responded early in the second quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ben Veihl.

But Muskegon added two more scores before the half, one when Myles Walton found Jeremiah Dault for a 20-yard touchdown catch and Jakob Price added a 12-yard touchdown run with under a minute left in the half to give Muskegon a 21-7 lead.

In the third quarter, the Rockets took advantage of a Big Reds fumble with a Brady Ross 1-yard touchdown run. With the score at 21-14, The Rockets had momentum before a 80 yard touchdown pass from Walton to Dault as the Big Reds seized control of the game.

Walton opened up the second half scoring for the Big Reds with a 4 yard touchdown run.

The Big Reds’ defense got in on the action as Tamareon Oakes forced a fumble and Ty Irby returned the fumble 55 yards for a score.

Price added a 38-yard touchdown run and finished off the scoring for Muskegon.

Ross added a 13 yard touchdown run for the Rockets.

Piggee led the Big Reds in rushing with 179 yards and a touchdown. Price finished with 116 yards rushing and two scores. Walton threw for 127 yards with both of his touchdown passes going to Dault, who finished with 103 yards receiving. The quarterback duo of Ben Veihl and Antrel Jones combined for 230 yards passing with Tayte Vanderleest and Ja Ceion Riley being primary receiving targets. Muskegon finished with 499 yards of total offense and Reeths-Puffer finished with 304 yards of total offense.

Reeths-Puffer (3-5, 2-4) finishes its regular season at Grand Rapids Union next Friday. Muskegon (7-1, 6-0) has a chance to clinch the OK Green title outright with a win next Friday against Zeeland East at Hackley Stadium to end the regular season.
