The Mona Shores boy’s basketball team sputtered against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian at the Cornerstone Invitational on Wednesday night in a 56-48 loss.

The Sailor offense struggled to get anything going as they strayed behind the Chargers, 28-13 at halftime.

Mona Shores began to claw away at the Chargers’ lead, trailing 36-24 after the third.  

The Sailors fired off 24 points in the final eight minutes but the Chargers answered back with 20 points of their own, putting the game out of reach for Mona Shores.

Putting up points for the Sailors was Ethan Krueger with 11 points while Keontae Richards had nine points and grabbed three rebounds and made three assists.

Parker Swartz also led the team with nine points, four rebounds and two steals and Jake Southland added seven rebounds, six steals and three blocks.

Mona Shores falls to 2-3 and will be back to action on Tuesday January 4th to square up with Lowell in non-conference play.
