BYRON CENTER–Nearly losing their lead in the final quarter the Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team squeaked by Byron Center Zion Christian with a 38-34 victory on Friday evening.

The Eagles had a 25-15 lead going into halftime. Calvary Christan continued to stay in the lead but Zion Christian was quickly making up ground bringing the score as they got within two of the Eagles at 32-30.

The Eagles desperately fought off the Mountaineers in the fourth quarter. Calvary Christian narrowly escaped with the win as they held the Mountaineers to just four points in the final quarter.

Leading the Eagles offensive attack was Cate Anhalt with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals while McKena Wilson chipped in with six points and four steals. Nora Pollock also contributed to the win for the Eagles making seven steals, scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds.

Calvary Christian climbs to 6-1 on the season and will be home on Monday against Pentwater.
