FREMONT — Shaking off a cold start, the Fremont boys basketball team picked up steam and eventually cruised to a 70-25 victory over Remus-Chippewa Hills victory Tuesday night in the Central State Activities Association Gold.

The Packers had trouble getting shots to fall in the first quarter, but then cleaned things up and improved its ball movement in the second period.

Improved ball movement presented the Packers with better looks at the basket, and they started to knock down open shots which paved the way to victory.

The Packers steadily pulled away, with a strong defense combining with an improved offense to keep the Warriors from mounting any comeback.

Jordan McDonald was the Packers leading scorer with 17 points and he also picked off two steals. Blake Hanshue made an auspicious return to the lineup with 15 points and four rebounds.

Gavin Richards also scored in double figures for the Packers with 11 points and he gathered in five rebounds. Logan Nelson contributed seven assists and seven rebounds.

Their fourth straight win raised the Packers record to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Fremont is scheduled to host league co-leader Reed City on Friday.
