KENT CITY — Hart’s wrestling team won its third straight MHSAA regional championship Wednesday night by sweeping both of its matches at Kent City.
The Pirates went against Orchard View in the semifinal match and dominated the Cardinals for a 66-9 victory. Hart then faced off against Comstock Park in the final, and came away with a 44-27 triumph to seal the deal.
“It was a great team effort across the board,” said Hart head coach Brad Altland. “The kids really came together, and wrestled hard.”
Picking up individual victories for the Pirates included Trayce Tate,, Ty Thomas, Nicolas Sandy, Mason Cantu, Zane Thomas, Leo Guadarrama, Ivan Lara, Jose Chavira, Uriel Vilches-Mendoza, Guillermo Ortega, Alex Hicks and Jon Ponce.
