RAVENNA — Montague’s girls basketball team bounced back from a 12-point loss to Hart last week with a convincing 42-27 win over Ravenna on the road Tuesday night in the West Michigan Conference.

Montague led at each quarter break, starting with the first when the Wildcats doubled up the Bulldogs for an 8-4 advantage. The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs, 19-9 in the second period and carried a 27-13 lead into the half.

The Wildcats defense kept the clamps on the Bulldogs in the second half, outscoring them, 10-4 in the third period and went into the fourth quarter with a 37-17 advantage. Ravenna outscored Montague, 10-5 in the final eight minutes.

Montague was led in scoring by sophomore Kendall Osborne with 13 points while senior Maddie Meachum added 12 and senior Emma Dyer chipped in with seven.

Meachum also had six rebounds and Haylee Schwarz grabbed four. Osborne dished out three assists and picked off four steals. Meachum had two blocks. Dyer had two steals.

Ravenna’s leading scorer was Madeline Kilbourne with 10 points while Emma Gillard added nine. Claira Schullo and Alexis McMahon each had four points.

Montague improved its record to 15-4 overall and 11-2 in the conference. The Wildcats are next scheduled to see action Thursday night at home against Shelby.

Ravenna dropped to 5-15 overall and ends 2-12 in the conference. The Bulldogs now wait for the district tournament which starts next week.
