LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls basketball team won its ninth straight game Monday night at home, holding off Traverse City West, 37-28 in non-conference action.

It was a tight game all the way, with the Orioles taking an 8-7 edge at the end of the first quarter. The Orioles outscored the Titans, 13-6 in the second period to build a 21-13 halftime lead.

The two teams each scored eight points in the third quarter, which left th Orioles holding a 29-21 lead. Ludington had an 8-7 edge in the final period.,

“We played a very tough Traverse City West team,” Ludington head coach Warren Stowe said. “They really packed in their defense and made it difficult for us.

“Keelyn (Laird), Rylee (Stone) and Olivia (Lynn) continue to play unselfish ball and find each other. Our guards are beyond tenacious, and do a good job of handling pressure and getting us into our stuff.”

Laird finished as the Orioles leading scorer with 13, Lynn contributed 12 and RyAnn Rohrer added nine.

The Orioles raised their record to 12-4 with the win. Ludington is next scheduled to see action on Friday night at Orchard View in the Lakes 8 Activities Conference.
