COOPERSVILLE–The Spring Lake boys basketball team suffered a 44-42 heartbreaker to Coopersville on Tuesday in an O-K Blue Conference loss.

The Lakers were dispatched by 7 of 8 free-throw shooting by Coopersville in the last minute of action.

It was the Lakers who held the advantage early jumping out front 13-10 after the first quarter, and went ahead another three points to roll into halftime with a 19-13 lead over the Broncos.

The Lakers fell behind for the first time in the game after the break as the Broncos held a 12-5 third quarter scoring advantage to jump ahead 25-24 by the end of the quarter.

Kaden George from Spring Lake led all scorers with 21 points while Porter Saunders chipped in with 10 points. Jackson Core dished out seven assists on the night.

Spring Lake slumps to 7-9 overall has a 4-7 league record. The Lakers will be back in action on Friday as they host Hudsonville Unity Christian.
