MUSKEGON — Western Michigan Christian exploded out of the gates with a 21-4 run as the Warriors cruised to a large win over Muskegon Heights in a girls’ Lakes 8 Activities conference tilt.

The Warriors coasted to a 73-35 victory over the Tigers behind Kyla Wiersema’s 25 points.

WMC jumped out to a 21-4 lead at the end of the first quarter that extended to 40-17 at halftime. A consistent second half found the Warriors up 57-26 at the end of the third quarter before finishing the contest with a 73-35 victory.

Kyla Wiersema led all scorers with 25 points, with 12 of those points coming in the first quarter. Maddie Wiersema dominated as well with 10 points and nine rebounds.

The return of Lexie Daggett was influential in the WMC victory as she poured in 10 points of her own. A strong, well-rounded performance by Libby Mast with eight points, 12 rebounds and eight assists was vital for WMC as well as she shows her versatility on the floor.

Muskegon Heights was led offensively by TyVeeona Davis. She sparked the Tigers by scoring 17 of their 35 points.

WMC improves to 9-3 and 5-1 in Lakes 8 conference play. The Warriors’ potent offense will travel to Spring Lake tomorrow night for a battle in which they hope to continue their offensive success.

Muskegon Heights drops to 2-6 and 2-3 in Lakes 8 conference play. The Tigers will host Manistee on February 8th as they try to rebound.
