ZEELAND — Ludington’s boys basketball team scored just two points in the second quarter and couldn’t recover, ending up losing, 52-48 in the non-conference game on the road Tuesday night against Zeeland East.

The Orioles started the game out well enough, outscoring the Chix, 17-9 in the first quarter. But then came the second period, when the Chix enjoyed a 15-2 advantage to climb into a 24-19 lead at the half.

Ludington outscored the Chix, 18-15 in the third period to cut the margin down to points, 39-37 entering the fourth quarter. The Chix had a 13-11 edge in the final eight minutes.

The Orioles took the lead, 46-42 with four minutes left in regulation on a Levi Laman 3-point bucket but they couldn’t hold it.

Levin Tilden had a game-high 18 points for the Chix.

The Orioles fell to 11-8 and will end the regular season Thursday night at inter-county rival Mason County Central.
