MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP – Reeths-Puffer’s varsity girls basketball team will play for a district championship on its home floor against arch rival Mona Shores on Friday.

It doesn’t get much better than that for the Rockets.

First, the Reeths-Puffer had to take care of Kenowa Hills in Wednesday’s semifinals, and the Rockets accomplished that by out-scoring the Knights by a combined 47-26 in the first and third quarters in their 56-38 victory.

Rockets’ guard Ariel Walker led the charge with 17 points and three steals, while Sophia Hekkema contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

After taking a 20-12 first-quarter lead, both teams struggled in the second and neither squad could record a point in a rare scoreless quarter. The Rockets re-grouped after the half and increased their lead to 21 points entering the fourth.

Arrionna Williams totaled nine points, six rebounds and four steals for the Rockets, which split the season series against the Sailors with each team winning on their home court.

Reeths-Puffer improves to 16-5 on the season.
