ZEELAND — Playing in the rain Wednesday afternoon, and later under the lights as darkness descended, the Reeths-Puffer girls softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Zeeland East, 10-9 and 11-5.

Reeths-Puffer scored three runs in the first, second and fourth innings but Zeeland East scored one run in every inning, and three in the sixth.

Zeeland tied the game in the seventh and scored the game-winner in the eighth inning.

The Rockets did manage 12 hits for the game, with Kaylee Jones going 3-for-5 with a triple, Caitlynn Duffey finished with two doubles and Mady Snyder went 2-for-4 with a double. Alyssa Sahloff also had a double.

Duffey was in the circle for the Rockets and rang up 11 strike outs in the loss.

In game two, the Rockets had eight hits with Jones leading the way, going 4-for-4 with a double and three singles. Duffey crushed a two-run home run, her fourth of the season.

Snyder, Megan Barmes and Emma Buzzell all collected hits as well. Snyder finished the game with five strike outs.
