WHITEHALL — Mason County Central’s girls softball team struggled to get on track in a West Michigan Conference doubleheader with Whitehall on the road Monday afternoon, losing both ends of the twin bill 10-0 and 18-1.

Both games were stopped at the end of the fifth inning because of the 10-run lead rule.

The Spartans had a total of three hits in the two games combined. Riley Mast had the Spartans’ only hit in the first game, while Alex Luttrell ripped a double in the nightcap and scored the only run of the day when Mast singled.

Wren Nelson pitched the first game and was relieved by Grace Weinert. Weinert threw all five innings of the nightcap.
