The Fruitport softball team couldn’t hold on its Game 1 loss to Holland Christian but managed to walk away with an 8-5 victory in the nightcap.

The Trojans lost the opener on a Maroon walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Kadence Springstead took the loss for Fruitport pitching, but managed to scatter four runs on five hits ,over six innings of play while striking out 11 batters.

Teagan Schultz led Fruitport at the plate with two hits.

Game 2, Fruitport broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Schultz.

The Trojans managed the win despite allowing three runs in the fourth inning by Holland Christian.  

Brooklyn Russell pitched all seven innings for Fruitport, scattering 10 hits while allowing five runs.

Kadence Springstead and Schultz had two hits apiece for Fruiptort which did not commit a single error in the field.

Infielder Brylee Dewitt was perfect in the field
