FRUITPORT — It took a late rally to lift the Fruitport girls softball team to a thrilling 14-8 non-conference win over Fremont in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday. The Trojans rolled to a 14-4 win in the nightcap.

With the score tied 5-5 in the top of the fifth inning Brooklyn Russell tripled to push across the lead run for the Trojans.

Teagam Schultz finished the game 5-for-5 with a double to help lead the Trojans. Russell, Brylee Dewitt and Rylee Lusk each had multiple hits as well.

Kadence Springstead earned the win in the circle for the Trojans, allowing eight runs on seven hits while striking out eight.

In the second game the Trojans scored six runs in the fifth inning to put the game away.

Russell took the win in the circle, giving up four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four with no walks.

Schultz paced the offense, going 3-for-4. Sabi Miel, Dewitt, Lusk and Mylee Mineni all had multiple hit games.
