FRUITPORT – The Fruitport boys basketball team turned a slow start into a solid 64-50 win over Muskegon Catholic Central on Friday evening.

“We got off to a sluggish start tonight, but were able to regroup and get back on track in the third quarter to pull away,” said Fruitport coach Steve Erny.

The Trojans led by six points at the first half but pulled together in a team effort to seal the deal.

“Once we picked up our aggression and got back to some basics, I was happy with how our guys played,” Erny said. “Nine players scored tonight, which was great to see.”

Ryan Bosch and DayDay Williams led the way with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Grade Anspach threw in 10 points and Kyle Burke scored eight points. Hudson Hazekamp contributed six points.

Fruitport (4-2) will face Whitehall at the Muskegon Area Hall of Fame Classic on Wednesday at Reeths-Puffer.

Muskegon Catholic Central (1-7) will compete in the Holton Holiday Tournament on Thursday.
