KENT CITY — It was an evening for offensive fireworks on Friday night at Kent City.

And when the smoke cleared, the host Eagles moved to 4-0 with a 67-26 victory over the White Cloud Indians.

Kent City led 27-0 after one quarter and 47-6 at the half.

White Cloud was able to put up a touchdown in the third quarter.

Mason Westbrook, Zane Kik, and Caden Hartzell in the Kent City running game proved to be the difference. Westbrook was the leading rusher with 180 yards on seven carries and four touchdowns. Kik had six carries for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Hartzell ran for 88 yards on four attempts and one score.

Kyler Larson completed 3-of-4 passes for 26 yards. He also rushed four times for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Ari Baker was the leading receiver with 14 receiving yards. 

White Cloud had an impressive offensive performance of its own as Jace Silverthorn rushed for 185 yards and produced 213 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mason Ruether completed 12-of-21 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns. The other two scores went to Nate Compeau, who had 73 receiving yards. 

The Eagles’ defense recovered two fumbles. Baker forced one of the fumbles while also being the leading tackler with six. Westbrook, Kik, Chase Moreno, Arin Sarres, Jim Anderson, and Gabe Russnell each recorded four tackles.. Kyler Hall broke up two passes. 

Silverthorn was the leading defender for the Indians with 16 tackles. 

Kent City will travel to Lakeview next week. 

White Cloud drops to 2-2 and will play at Holton next Friday.
