GRAND RAPIDS–The Tigers were able to hold their own through one quarter, but gradually fell behind and suffered a 42-20 setback to Grandville Calvin Christian. 

Calvin Christian began to pull away in the second quarter, taking a 12-6 halftime lead and a 26-6 third-quarter lead.

G’Nari Davis and Anthony Floyd provided the offense for the Tigers. Davis rushed 12 times for 63 yards and Floyd had 12 carries for 62 yards. Floyd scored twice on 10- and 7- yard runs while Davis had a 48-yard sprint to the endzone.

Leading receivers for the Tigers were Emarion Mason with two receptions for 69 yards and Jamarea Jackson Jr. with four receptions for 46 yards.

Paul Bouma and Jake Newenhouse were too much for the Tigers defense. Bouma threw for 149 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for two more. Newenhouse ran for 156 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown.

Muskegon Heights (0-2) hosts Detroit Edison next week.
